AN EVENING OF ENTERTAINMENT

Many months ago, Fran Taylor gave me a notice asking if anyone might like to offer their talents towards an evening of entertainment to fit in between the bi-annual panto. She was concerned that it might be difficult to find an audience to fill the village hall. In the meantime Vince Jones and the rest of the performers and helpers were slaving away at rehearsals. When I got the advert for February I suggested the show run for two nights instead of one and the cast agreed. The March magazine listed both dates and the rest – as they say – is history!

I’m sure everyone had their favourite moments but. I choose:-

For pure slapstick “Pass the pickle, son” from one end of a defective table to the other. Put the pickle jar on its side, tilt the table, roll the jar and because the lid is stiff, tuck it under your armpit and twist!!

For words I chose the Colo-rectal song “Working where the sun don’t shine”. Just for the record, the song was actually commissioned by the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. A lot of you in the audience might not have known that!!

For young talent – Millie Clark and her enchanting cast in “A Little Prom Date”

For more Senior talent – Jean Berry and Margaret Hearing were both superb.

The Musical talent was all very restful after the more frenetic acts listed above.

For a “Feel Good Factor” Fat Fat Palomino made me feel quite slim!

Finally, as an audience member, I say on behalf of all who packed the hall on both evenings a big thank you to everyone involved in the preparation of such a wonderful and varied entertainment.

I am sure we all look forward to the next such evening.
