NEW SEASON IN THE BREWERS ARMS>>>>>>>>>

This winter films will again be on a Sunday evening normally towards the end of each month. Based on requests received, I have chosen:-

Roman Holiday

April 25th  -
Gigi

There will be a brief description of each film in the appropriate issue of Valley & Valence and I hope that this advance information will encourage you to come along!

Films start at
7.30pm in the Brewers and food will be available before the film but only if you book ahead.

PS. To maintain two Royal Navy traditions, each film will be preceded by a short Tom and Jerry cartoon and will include a half-time interval to recharge your glasses!

NOTICES, REQUESTS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Can you help with War Memorial research?

I am currently researching the details of all war memorials within Winterborne St Martin.  I would be grateful if anyone could provide the following information for inclusion within the National Inventory:-

• Site of memorial(s)

• Date erected

• The financing. i.e. Public subscription, fundraising.

• Persons named on the memorials and any details about them including where they lived, died, rank, regiment etc.

• Photographs of those named would also be welcome if they can be electronically copied.

Memorials take many forms such as; plaques, buildings, and trees etc. No memorial is too small for inclusion.

Remember, these people gave their lives for their country. This is an opportunity to learn more about them as individuals. The information will then be forwarded to the National Inventory of War Memorials.

Is anyone able to provide any information about the following men from the valley who where killed in action between 1939-1945 please?
FREDEDICK* CHICK
ALFRED JOSEPH DUNFORD
JOHN HOCKING
FREDERICK CHARLES PARK
ALBERT TRENT

*As spelt on the memorial in St Martin's Church

ALSO

Those from the valley killed in action between 1914-1918 as listed on the Roll of Honour' in St Martin's Church
ALFRED CHRISTOPHER
ERNEST ELLERY
REGINALD OLD
ALFRED WAY

This information is being collected for the National War Memorial Inventory archives at the Imperial War Museum.

If you have any information please contact me by e-mail: warmemorialresearch@hotmail.co.uk
